One Year On...

So we quietly passed the one year anniversary of the death of Chris Benoit (and some would also say the death of my blogging days), who murdered his wife and son before taking his own life. As I said before, I don't condone his actions, but I still admire what he did in the squared circle, and I've come to realize one year down the line that I currently don't have a favorite North American pro-wrestler. Sure I catch WWE on TV, and the occasional TNA show, but I haven't found anyone that could take the place of Benoit who could carry just about anyone to a good match. There is no one in WWE or TNA that I consider "must watch talent" anymore, and I find myself not really minding if I miss an episode of RAW or ECW, and TNA on TV here is just an afterthought and something I watch only if I can even remember it's on.

The US indy circuit is an acquired taste for me, and I only watch shows if there is anything that catches my eye on the card, but I've also lost touch with many of the promotions like Chikara, IWA and CZW. I have a huge backlog of Japanese shows from as far back as 2006 that I haven't had the time to watch, and with the exception of Kenta Kobashi's return match, nothing has really excited me enough to want to watch without skipping a lot of the filler. The only big match Kobashi has had since his return was the recent 30-minute draw with KENTA against Kensuke Sasaki & Katsuhiko Nakajima, which I definitely want to check out when it becomes available, but that probably won't be for a while now since I don't order DVDs anymore.

I have a big (much deserved) vacation coming up, so expect me to do one of my big vacation trip posts when I get back. I can't even think up a proper way to end this post so I'll just sign off here.
