RAW, K-1 and Manhunt...

Updated the Puroresu section with my thoughts on this week's edition of RAW, some puroresu news & thoughs and a K-1 show I watched on TV. Check it out. I also just received one new All Japan Pro Wrestling tape and you can check out the card on the my collection page. I'll put up a review after I watch it. It's the show where Great Muta beat Genichiro Tenryu for the Triple Crown and will be my first look at AJPW after Mutoh took over.

PS2 Game Review: MANHUNT
From the makers of GTA: Vice City comes Manhunt, not to be confused with the reality show that featured John Cena as 'Big Tim'.
In Manhunt, you play as Cash. A supposedly executed prison inmate. But the execution was only a cover as Cash is taken to several remote locations to take part in a series of reality snuff films where he literally has to fight for his life to stay alive.
Stealth is the name of the game as you constanly hide to avoid contact with the different gangs that inhabit each area. And its a very colourful cast of psychotic sickos. Your encouraged to 'execute' them in a manner of sick and grissly fashions depending on the type of weapon your holding. Cave their heads in with a baseball bat, decapitate their heads with a machete, blow their brains out with a shotgun, slice up their loins with a sickle....You get the picture. Sometimes you are given other objectives like protecting a homeless drunk that's paired up with you and he must survive if your to get past the checkpoints.
There was a lot of high hopes for this game since Rockstar made it. But your looking a bit too high if your expecting something along the lines of GTA:VC. Most of the scenes require you to just hide for the most part and execute the gang members one by one as you make your way through the 20 levels of the game. Patience is required as you spend a lot of time hiding in the shadows waiting for the right time to bait them in and take out your hunters, and it can get a bit repeatative.
I really enjoyed playing Manhunt, and the option to replay a level at anytime after you complete it is a good way to not have to play the game all over again just to better your clear times and skip to some of the more fun levels like "Kill The Rabbit". I recommend it if your into stealth games and have alot of patience. Of course it doesn't hurt if you have a bloodlust to blow heads off....

A Good Day!

What's this? Another update? Sue me, I'm having a good day!

Why? First I watched a truly incredible Royal Rumble match won by one of my all time favs, Chris Benoit.
Then my buddy, TenzanTeam2K, lets me know that the article I posted about Spanky leaving WWE was printed in the STAR newspaper today!
Feeling good, I go to town to buy myself a copy. At the same time, I collected a cash debt from a buddy of mine who paid in full with no hassle, Coolness.
Then I decide to go to the arcades to spread some wealth. After a round of Silent Scope, I look around and noticed King of Fighters 2K2 was moved to a different game cabinet. Investigating, I found they had SVC CHAOS!!! A NEW UP TO DATE GAME!!! But just before I pop my token in, I take another look around and what do I find? KING OF FIGHTERS 2003!!! AND NO ONE WAS PLAYING IT!!! GLORY HALLELUJAH!!! I then spent the next hour getting my ass whooped as I figured out how to play it. It Didn't matter though cause the Extreme Icon was in a good mood.
So happy in fact I went to the airport to suprise my girl, Trish, and give her a ride home from work. I don't do this as often as I like cause the airport is so far away. But I was in good spirits today.
And as I type this I'm watching the replay of today's Royal Rumble.
What a good day....
In the words of Ernest Miller, "SOMEBODY CALL MY MAMA!!!"

Gettin' ready to Rumble!

Put up a huge report on the WWE Royal Rumble which was probably the best Rumble match ever despite four TV only quality matches and one bloody but unsatisfactory finish to the World Title match. Check it out in the Puroresu section!

Also, went with Trish to watch the movie Silver Hawk last night. It's kinda like Batman, billionairess dons a mask to fight crime. Accept she's not haunted by family tragedy, she just loves to fight! Great movie and I recommend it to fans of super hero movies. Lots of good fight sequences and comedy spots. One of the best bits was when the running gag of the movie became the shocker highlight near the end!

I also completed the PS2 game Manhunt and will put a review up soon. Now I'm starting on Final Fantasy X-II eventhough I never played FFX cause I never was a fan of the series. But I got a bit interested after witnessing a cosplay event in KL a few weeks back that my buddy TenzanTeam2K took part in. He got screwed out of the finals by some bad judging though.

Royal Rumble weekend

Hope everyone had a safe Chinese New Year, not losing any fingers blowing stuff up with firewroks and raking in the ang pow cash.

Spending 3 days straight with Trish can be exhausting if you know what I mean :-) Visiting what friends and relatives we have that celebrate CNY, trying to rake in the ang pow cash-o-la and spending our evenings together relaxing watching movies on TV. My total cash haul this year was satisfactory.

Anyways, check the Puroresu section for my predictions for this weekend's WWE Royal Rumble event as well as some other WWE current events thoughts and criticism. I also put up a short thought on Johnny 'Survivor' Fairplay's TNA debut and more on the NJPW contract renewals.

I'll be back on Monday with my WWE Royal Rumble thoughts after I watch it live on Season Pass.

Now to go spend the wealth....

Counting down to CNY...

Counting down to Chinese New Year while listening to SpineShank's "Self Destructive Pattern" CD.

Updated my thoughts on this past week's WWE RAW, the current NJPW contract re-signing situation and a good K-1 match I caught on TV this past monday in the Puroresu section.

Days away from the WWE Royal Rumble, should be a promising show. I wait patiently.....

Two months and two weeks in and still no NOAH tape from japantapes.com. I still wait patiently.....

Also currently playing the gorefest that is Manhunt on my PS2. Lots of blood and gore. Gets a bit repeatative, but I recommend checking it out if you ever dream of stalking someone in the dark and hacking their head off with a machete...

At The Movies...

Listening to "I Don't Wanna Be Me" by Type 'O' Negative, from the excellent "Life Is Killing Me" CD. (Go to the Extreme Metal section for a short review)

Spent most of the day cleaning up a huge mess I call my bedroom. Cleared up my desk, arranged my BB Guns and put up a new KoRn and Slipknot poster. The trick now is keeping them up cause they have a tendency to peel of the wall themselves. Their EVIL I tells ya!

Then the evening comes and me and my girl Trish head to Bintang Plaza to watch Peter Pan at the Star Cineplex. I know it's a kiddie movie but the reviews say it's got a darkside to it. Anyway, we got there early so after buying tickets, Trish went window shopping while I kicked ass in Rage of Dragons at the Arcade, losing to the damn cheap boss, Johann, again at the end.

The movie itself was kinda good. Personally, I was rooting for the pirates since they were such underdogs (and also very stupid). Captain Hook was a cool heel and definately the more interesting part of the movie. At one point I thought the movie was over but it was just 45 minutes into it! I recommend giving it a shot. It has it's fun moments and some very good special effects, particularly the flying bits. I give it a good 3 out of 5. My favorite version of the Peter Pan story is still "Hook" starring Robin Williams and Robert DeNiro :-)

I'll be doing these movie reviews regularly as I go to the movies alot with my girl. I try not to support video piracy by buying cheap pirated VCDs, and neither should any of you out there.

Put up my thoughts on Brian "Spanky" Kendrick leaving WWE in the puroresu section, more like a rant on WWE's miss-use of talent actually.

I also manage to catch Exposed: Wrestlings Greatest Secrets on TV last night. It didn't tell me anything I didn't already know about what goes on in the squared circle. Only part that interested me was when they showed what the ring was made out of. Now I got a clue how to make my own backyard ring ;-)

I put up a short rant in the Metal section, listing out the CDs I bought on my recent trip to Singapore and why I always look forward to going there to hunt for CDs. Check it out.
