Saw the PS3, wasn't impressed.

So I went to the Sony Bravio Road Show at Imperial Mall last night to check out the PS3 in action, and I was less than impressed with the big black box. For starters, they only had one system on display and they were playing (I think) Ridge Racer 7, which really doesn't show off much of the system's abilities other than the motion sensor controller. I wasn't really all that impressed with the graphics either. Big whoop for lighting. Even worse is that they were there to promote the PS3, but the people there had no idea what to talk about the system. They didn't know the specs other than it was HD compatible with all the big TVs they were pushing, they had no idea when the Malaysian version would be release, or a price tag, and they weren't too sure about the online functions either other than it can connect to your network via Bluetooth. They really need to be more knowledgeable when it comes to their products, and I think they also drop the ball in regards that they were pushing Blu-Ray, digital cameras, video camcorders and MP3 players, but nowhere to be found was the PSP! Big missed opportunity considering all the upgrades it's supposed to be getting in the near future.
Heck, I went to Bintang Plaza after that and the video game shop where I get a lot of my games had a PS3 on display too with the new Gundam game on. The price has supposedly been slashed down to about 2-grand from the RM3600 price it originally started out as, which is progress but still costs too much and there still is NOTHING announced for the system I want to play.

Phones, Saloons and Cineplex

I got me a new toy to play around with! On Friday I got me a new Motorola V3X handphone. I picked up this phone more or less because it was featured heavily on the TV show House, so let's all hear it for the power of product placement advertising!

Saturday I spent the whole day out with Ling. We spent most of the afternoon at Mona Lisa Studios making arrangements for wedding photo shoot and gown arrangements. We finished that at about 4PM, and went around town a bit after that. We had dinner at KFC at Bintang Plaza, and went to watch the movie Pathfinder at the Star Cineplex. Remember the problems I complained about the last time we went there to watch a movie? Well, it happened again! But this time not only did the sound die out, but the picture went out of sync too! I didn't wait around this time and immediately went to complain, and they did manage to fix it this time, but a little later during the climatic ending sequence, the film reel actually burned up! Again they managed to fix it and finish the movie, but I'm guessing they'll be missing a few seconds of footage next time they play that movie. Star Cineplex is in definite need of an overhaul to fix things up a bit.
As for the movie, Pathfinder was a rather interesting movie based on a legend of a Viking child raised by American Indians about 600 years before Columbus discovered America, and this Viking child by the name of "Ghost" help defended the shores from invading Viking Berzerkers! I don't know if this legend is true, but I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you like barbarian/warrior movies.

Right now, I don't think we'll be going back to the cineplex for awhile unless they are showing something I really wanna see.

Half-Night at the Movies

Wednesday me and Ling went to watch A Night In The Museum at the Star Cineplex, this is the current no.1 grossing movie at the US Box Office starring Ben Stiller as a night security guard at a museum who's exhibits come to life every night. The movie was really fun when they got to the museum part, and everyone there was enjoying it when suddenly the sound system died! Some of us went to complain and after waiting about 15 minutes for them to try and fix it, we were informed that they couldn't fix it and that we could get refunds at the ticket counter.
Serisously, it's about time the Star Cineplex fixed up things a bit since this isn't the first time the sound system failed half-way through a show.

Happy New Year

In case everyone wondered why the long silenced since my last post, it's not because it took me this long to recover from over-celebrating, but because my home PC is shot and still in the shop for repairs. Not sure what happened, but the whole thing just conked out on me and I might have to change the motherboard. It should be ready today if not sometime this week.

Not a whole lot going on for Christmas for me. Had a lousy dinner on Christmas eve compliments of my big brother, and a big brunch on Christmas day thanks to my mom. The rest of the holiday was so-so. Also on Christmas day, "Godfather of Soul" James Brown and former US President Gerald Ford passed away, and Saddam Hussein got executed by hanging.

We got a four day weekend here for new years. But that wasn't much to shout about either since Ling was working most of the time and I had no PC to do anything. All my online plans to bang in the new year were ruined. Me and Ling spent New Year's Eve watching TV. We had a big family gathering at my place on new year's day, and took tuesday off to relax. Hopefully my PC will be fixed soon.
