Year of the Pig, and I met a Pig

So Chinese New Year has come and gone. Surprisingly I made a good haul in ang pow money this year. Getting over a hundred bucks is a near miracle at my age. I spent most of the CNY by myself though, since Ling was off on her company paid vacation to Taiwan. We did manage to spend the first day of CNY together though, and the highlight of which was when we went to her sister's house and she showed us her pet pig! It's a black piglet they named Sunday, since that was the day they got it.

Other than that, most of the week was spent hanging out at home playing Final Fantasy XII, hanging out with my brother before he went back to Singapore on the 22nd, and just lazing through work since everyone was still on leave.

I did manage to meet up with a group of old high school friends which I hadn't seen in years. We later went as a group to the cineplex to watch the new Andy Lau movie, The Protege. It was an ok movie, though it lagged in places and did have a few fun comedy bits like the dumb criminal that jumped off the 8th floor to his death while trying to out run the cops during a raid. Lesson of the movie is Drugs are BAD.

So Ling finally came back from her vacation yesterday and we went out for dinner and a long chat, with her telling me about her experiances in Taiwan and me telling her about what I've been up to here. She surprised me by getting me a Keroro Gunso model kit of the blue ninja robo suit. I don't know all the characters, so that's how I'll describe it. She also bought a few Chinese snacks back.

After sending her home, I caught the Transporter 2 on STAR Movies. It didn't have much of the story of the first movie, but was action packed from start to finish and a worthy sequel.

Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Gong Xi Fa Cai and Happy Chinese New Year to everyone!

FORE!

I've always enjoyed playing Outlaw Golf on the PS2, and the Adam Sandler golf comedy movie Happy Gilmore is one of my all time favorite comedies. I even occasionally watch golf on the TV when they show the highlights of great shots and putts.
But wouldn't you know that when my cousin brought me and my bro to the Eastwood Valley Golf Club to tee off at the driving range that I was actually rather good at it? Sure I had my share of turkey shots and missed shots, but I picked up the game rather quickly and was able to hit several shots over 100 meters. Even using the big 1 wood, I was able to break 150 on my second shot! The downside was that my hands are now sore and a bit swollen, but I enjoyed it so much that I'm following my cousin there again next week and will probably make it a regular hobby. I just doubt I'll be spending hundreds of dollars on clubs though.

Shopping Spree

Well, not really my shopping spree. My mom brought me, my brother, my grandmother and one of my cousins to Sun City for dinner on Friday night. She heard about how good I thought the place was and wanted to give it a try. She was rather surprised by the high prices for the ala carte menu though. I ended up having a chicken chop, which was as filling and definitely didn't look like the 1/2 bird that was advertised on the menu. My bro on the other hand had a really thick looking beef steak.
After dinner, I went my own way and picked up Ling from work. We then went on a quick last minute shopping spree for Ling to get some new year's clothes as well as a luggage bag for her trip to Taiwan. We than picked up her sister and I sent them home.

Return of the Bro

I had the day off on Thursday cause I had a lot to do. I went to change some money for Ling to use on her trip to Taiwan on 19/02/07. I then picked up my mom from the airport in the afternoon and we made a quick stop at a furniture store to pick up some side tables for my new room. We than made a quick stop at KFC to get a takeout for dinner. Then, we stopped by Chan's Furniture on the way home so I could place a deposit and book a couch me and Ling had our eye on for the new room again. After all that, we finally got home and I rested up a bit.
At midnight I had to go to the airport to pick up my brother that was visiting from Singapore and we reached home at about 1AM. After he got settled in, I finally called it a night and got some sleep.

Valentine Special

Wednesday was St. Valentine's Day, and I brought Ling to this new place that recently opened called Sun City. The place had nice ambiance and offered a bit of everything from local to western food. We took the Valentine's Day special set dinner which consisted of cream of potato soup with garlic bread, a serving of scallops, and the main course was a sirloin steak. Everything was really good, but the one bad thing was the fruit plate desert, with only 3 different fruits (two of which weren't to my taste), but the main thing was that the fruit seemed to have gone bad since they probably prepared it ahead of time. It still seemed like an OK deal and I believe we did get our money's worth.
We did a quick bit of shopping afterwards before heading back to my place were we spent the rest of the evening in each other's company watching TV before I sent her home before midnight.

One more for the Good Guys

So on Tuesday I went with Ling to the Boulevard Hypermart at Imperial Mall to return a shirt she bought for her mom, but her mom didn't like it much so Ling wanted to change it for a better one. Problem is we ran into this stuck up bitchy sales representative who refused to change it for a different branded one since she represents the brand of the shirt we bought. She said we could return it for the same brand, but when we asked the other sales people, they said it was ok. The bitch than started a fuss claiming that you couldn't change brands, and stuck by her story even when a supervisor of the Hypermart said it was ok. I really got pissed off so I gave her a piece of my mind. She claimed that we couldn't switch brands, so I pointed out how there wasn't a single sign ANYWHERE in the complex that said as such. If there was, than I would agree, but without it, all there is is a sales rep trying to pimp her merch and her merch alone, even though the money we are paying for her crappy merch was going to the mall and not in her pocket. This finally got the point across to her as she told the staff to do as they like and stormed off. So we managed to change the shirt for a better one.
Survey says: That's one more for the good guys!

Why I will be spending an eternal damnation in Hell

So last Sunday me and Ling went back to church for what was supposed to be our final Family Planning Course meeting with the church official. The only thing is despite the fact that we already understood the premise and how the charts and graphs work, they still wanted us to come back again! I got pissed off when I heard this and mouthed off my opinion at the church rep, telling her if they wanted us to come back so many times, they should have told us in the first place. They wanted us to understand how the system works, and we do, so why drag us out again? I could tell I struck a nerve with her and for that she'll probably curse me to Hell for not agreeing to their high and mighty ways.

Anyway, things got slightly better after that as me and Ling headed to the Boulevard restaurant for the "meeting of the parents" to discuss the dowry and preperations for our impending wedding. We were both wrecked with nerves for that, but luckily everything went off without a hitch and it only cost me RM170 to pay for everyone's lunch at the restaurant.
